The company was set up by Sydney Bishop in 1929. His sons joined the business and today it continues to be family owned and managed, with four generations of Bishops who are or who have been actively involved.
Sydney Bishop knew what he was doing. He brought into his business solid years of experience of working in demolition for other companies. Today, we still value practical hands-on knowledge and experience in our organisation.
The business started in Bromley, operating from Sydney’s home and garden. It was easier to do that in those early days as demolition was largely carried out by hand, without the machinery which is now integral to our work. As it grew, the business moved to its own premises and, in 1970, settled at our current home in Orpington, Kent.
The company was quick to grasp the opportunities offered by new machinery and techniques. We were pioneers in the use of long reach machinery in the UK and we remain committed to being at the leading edge with the machinery and technology we use and operating within the latest best practice.
During the company’s development we have stayed true to the principles that keep us at the forefront of the industry: high quality of work and on-going investment in plant and people.
