What we need to know about Asbestos removalAsbestos is a naturally occurring fibre which was widely used in building construction due to its resistance to heat, electricity and sound. However, it is now known to be toxic and many of its uses have been banned since the mid 1980s.

Asbestos is still present in a wide variety of buildings, including homes and public and commercial buildings. Provided the asbestos is not damaged or disturbed so that it is not releasing dust, it does not present any hazard to health. It is the inhalation of its microscopic fibres which can cause major health problems in cases of high or sustained exposure.
